Next Generation, Next Steps

Alex and Vanessa are the next generation of Windhaven Farm and have a dream of helping others nourish their body and soul with food responsibly produced.

Vanessa, the youngest daughter of Deb & Jerry, grew up on the farmstead as it was being built from the ground up. Some of her earliest memories are of helping carry tools to work on the house, and running after cattle escaped from the single hot-wire fence.

Alex is a true jack of all trades; he likes to say that he can fix everything but people. He’s dreamed living with wide open spaces and plenty to do since he was young.

Bold Thinkers

Deb and Jerry started everything that is Windhaven Farm. These two city-slickers turned homesteaders purchased Windhaven Farm in 1994, and broke ground to create the farmstead in 1995 with the mission to create a multi-generational legacy. They knew that if they wanted to create something great they had to think outside of the box and use sustainable practices from the start. They were early adopters of advanced building practices and green energy. They were among the first people in the county to install solar panels, a windmill generator, and groundwater heat pumps.

Knowing that food sovereignty was important as our world changed they started raising chicken and cattle. Over many years a cross breed of cattle has been produced to be smaller and gentler with great flavor.
